Spinner, by Michael J Bowler, earns the CLC Seal of Approval

Spinner, by Michael J Bowler, is the story of Alex, a young boy who was born with Spina Bifida and is confined to a wheelchair.  In addition to his physical setbacks, Alex also suffers from learning disabilities.  He and a group of friends from his special education class form a tight bond after a series of events occur, starting with the murder of their teacher.  Alex has a special ability to heal and take pain from others.  There are those who would capitalize on Alex's unique talents including the house mother from his foster home who aims to sell him out to the highest bidder.

Bowler has created a tangible cast of characters who nearly leap off the page as they come to life in this highly suspenseful book in which murder abounds.  This book is extremely graphic at times, but the overall theme of good vs. evil makes this a book which is sure to keep readers enthralled clear through to its finale.
